You now have this beautiful premium candle, now it’s time to take care of it to get the most out of it-resulting in a cleaner and longer burn, a better scent throw and warm, cozy vibes.
1-Always trim the candle wick to about ¼ inch between every burn.
This helps prevent messy soot ,creates a shorter ,safer flame while your candle burns and ensures that the candle will burn evenly with no wastage .If a wick that is much longer produces larger flames that may stain your vessel and burn faster than usual.
2- BURN A CANDLE FOR 3-4 HOURS THE FIRST TIME
Sometimes people assume that burning a candle for short periods of time ensures it will last longer. While there is some merit to this, it’s more important that your candle burns evenly so that it burns smoothly, thus lasting even longer.
Try to burn your candles for 3-4 hours at a time, or until the surface is liquefied. This will avoid tunnelling and ensure an even burn.
3 – DO NOT LEAVE CANDLES BURNING FOR MORE THAN 4 HOURS
Another candle care tip is to avoid burning a candle longer than 4 hours at a time. Burning a candle for longer may cause carbon to collect on the wick and cause the flame to get too big. This is a general precaution, and one should always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
4 – ALLOW CANDLE TO COOL DOWN FOR 2 HOURS
Before lighting a candle again, allow the wax to cool down for a minimum of 2 hours. Only light the wick again once the wax is visibly solid again, thus starting a new melting process. At this stage, the candle should start melting evenly across the candle surface.
5. Keep the flame away from windows and air drafts.
Do your best to keep your burning candle away from fans, air conditioners, open windows, or heavily trafficked areas where people walk back and forth a lot. Moving air can disturb the flame, leading to even more soot and unsightly black marks on the glass.
6-A burning candle should never be left unattended
7-Always place a burning candle out of reach from children or pets.
8-Keep your candle clean! It should be free of soot lining the vessel, debris in the wax, and dust.
9-Extinguish your candle properly- never use water or a liquid to put out the flame. Instead, use a candle snuffer or gently blow the candle out.
10-Keep away from household items that contain flammable materials such as curtains or plants.
11-Burn your candle edge to edge to prevent “tunneling”… more on that below!
12-Watch your burn time and always keep your candle within sight.
13- Candles should be stored in a cool, dry place.
What Happens When My Candle Is Finished?
Remember: You must STOP burning your candle when there is ¼ inch of wax left in the vessel.
You’ll find it’s easy to reuse candle jars by simply removing the leftover wax and cleaning it out.
Once you do that, you can repurpose the jar to store your beauty products, make a chic little planter, and much more.
